Frog and Newt Care Guides
Aquatic frogs and newts have different needs from fish. African dwarf frogs are fully aquatic, while newts prefer cool water and often want a land area or floating perch. Both groups escape through small gaps, need a secure lid, and should be fed with sinking foods so they are not outcompeted by fast fish.
Quick rules of thumb
- Use a lid with a small air gap.
- Keep newts cool.
- Wash your hands before and after handling the tank.
