Cryptocoryne Varieties (Cryptocoryne species) is an intermediate-level aquarium plant. Crypts such as undulata, spiralis, retrospiralis, crispatula, becketii, walkeri, petchii, nurii and usteriana share the same basic care: a nutrient-rich substrate with root tabs, steady conditions and patience. Size varies a lot by species, from compact 4-inch rosettes to leaves well over a foot long, so check the exact crypt before planting.

San Diego water
Captive-bred stock usually adapts to San Diego tap water with slow acclimation. For best color and health, many keepers blend tap with RO/DI water. Learn the numbers in our San Diego tap water guide.
